Good Beer Week in South Wharf

Wednesday April 24th, 2019

In just eight years, Good Beer Week has grown from the spark of an idea to a global festival made up of more than 300 diverse and innovative events across Melbourne and Victoria that attracts seventy five thousand attendees from across Australia and overseas.

Run by an independent, not-for-profit association, the program has grown almost 500 percent in size since launching in May 2011 and in 2019 it celebrates its eighth anniversary with a lineup that features guests from around the world, big name chefs, masterclasses, sublime degustations, live music and so much more.

It is Australia’s preeminent beer event, one that has inspired smaller imitators interstate and in New Zealand, and is well placed to achieve its founders’ stated goal of establishing the leading beer festival in the Asia Pacific region. It is the biggest single platform for local brewers and beer businesses to showcase themselves to a broad audience and also plays host to the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) and the three-day GABS Beer, Cider, Food & Festival at the Royal Exhibition Building.

This year, South Wharf’s Meat Market, Common Man and Coopers join forces to bring you vintage ales, aged and cured meats and stories of the family that truly were “born to brew”.

Join beer educator and Coopers expert Adrian Clark speaking about his beers and have a crack at hard to find vintages of Coopers Ale up against new releases complemented by dry aged and barrel smoked meats prepared and cooked live by Meat Market South Wharf chefs on the Common Man Lawn.

In this casual standup event you’ll enjoy charcoal roasted “Great Southern” dry aged rib eye with warm kipfler potato, autumn veg and coopers vintage grain mustard salad.

Barrel smoked “Darling Downs” Wagyu beef brisket with beans greens and Coopers vintage barbecue sauce.

Coopers vintage brined, dry aged, “Valencia ” pork belly with cabbage, fennel spiced apple, chilli and honey.
