If you’ve secured yourself tickets to the biggest game in town, the AFL Grand Final, hats off – enjoy! If you haven’t, never fear – we’ve rounded up three of the best venues for you to watch the game this Saturday 28 September, right here in South Wharf.
The Boatbuilder’s Yard
Gather the crew and head to Boaties on Saturday to join 800 footy fans for the biggest AFL Grand Final screening.
The Grand Final Party kicks off at 12pm with handball competitions and giant games, so come early to reserve the best seats or make a booking for your crew of 6 or more for 2.30pm kick-off.
Feast on a giant BBQ meat platter featuring pork ribs, buffalo wings, cheese kransky, beef brisket and pulled pork; plus all the mouth watering sides including South American slaw, BBQ corn and tater tots.
Each meat platter will feed groups of 4 and will only set you back by less than $25 a person ($99 per platter). Keep the festivities going with the Rugby World Cup set to take over the screens after the AFL medal presentations.
The Boatbuilders Yard will air the grand final on the outdoor mega screen as well as 5 other screens scattered around the expansive waterfront venue.
Common Man
Get your kit out on Saturday with Common Man’s annual AFL Grand Final Lawn party kicking off at 11am. With a sell out event in 2018, they are back with a bigger and better line up this year.
From 11am the Pop-Up Lawn BBQ will be in full swing with live music to get you in the mood.
The lawn will be open to general public, but space was limited in 2018. Secure your spot with a food and beverage package for only $26 per person (includes your choice of BBQ item plus a pint of Furphy Refreshing Ale or Espresso Martini).

The General Assembly
Head to this waterfront pub in South Wharf to celebrate the biggest day on the Aussie sports calendar.
There’ll be live footy action on 8 screens, as well as Colonial Draught buckets of 4 for $30, $14 Bloody Marys, a Grand Snack Platter $80 includes chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, lamb ribs, Dagwood Dogs, chips (feeds approx 4).
